Fashionista and TV/radio personality, Kofi Okyere Darko also known as KOD has broken his silence on his 'brother' and friend Kwasi Kyei Darkwa's (KKD) arrest for allegedly raping a 19-year-old young lady.

In an exclusive interview on Joy Prime's talk show, Tonight with Nii Kpakpo Thompson last Sunday, KOD revealed that he never begged Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) not to associate him (Kofi Okyere Darko KOD) with the alleged rape saga, but rather he appealed to him after the scandal to forgive him for not directly involving himself in the issue.

“When my father died, KKD came home. And it was at a time I could feel things were not okay between KKD and myself. I spoke to him in Twi [If you are here let me use the opportunity to apologise to you]. He felt that I should have been in court or sitting on a show like this one in his defence but my lawyers had talked to me. My lawyers said that where the act took place I was not there. And he had conceded that he had consensual sex with the young lady. He had spoken for himself, what else was I going to say?”

Refuting claims by some section of Ghanaians that he gave up on Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) when he was most needed, he disclosed that:

“Right then, I called Nana Bediatuo who is my personal lawyer and Nana became his (KKD) lawyer. KKD didn’t know Nana from anywhere. That very night I called the President’s brother, Ibrahim who showed up the following morning at the Police station. Right from that day my wife was cooking for him for the next two to three days. Maybe the only thing I didn’t do was to write things on Facebook.

Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), added that the incidence was regrettable but he has gotten over it and mended his relationship with his 'brother' and friend Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD).

“I have now buried this issue like my father, it’s been the lowest low in my life.”

KKD was arrested at the African Regent Hotel on Saturday, December 27, 2014, following a report by the young lady at the Airport Police Station and was put before the Kaneshie District court three days after.

However, the lady at the centre of the scandal in a two-page letter signed and issued on January 12, 2015, called on the authorities to stop the case, as she would not co-operate in the trial.
