Controversial Singer Mzbel does not want former President John Mahama to stage a comeback in the 2020 presidential election.

Mr Mahama lost the 2016 presidential election in unprecedented fashion becoming the first sitting president in Ghana's history to lose an election.

Since his defeat, there has been a lot of debate within his National Democratic Congress (NDC) as to who to present as the party's flagbearer for the next presidential polls in 2020.

While many including the National Organiser Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye are rooting for an immediate comeback for Mr Mahama in 2020, other leading members of the party have suggested that he steps aside.

Sharing his thoughts on the way forward for Mr Mahama on Thursday, Mzbel who is one of the most vocal supporters of the former president advised him not to contest.

In a Facebook post, Mzbel preferred that Mr Mahama rather remain in international politics as Africa's representative rather than coming back to the unpleasant politics on the local scene.

“Hmmm so soon people are already asking for you to return in 2020... ‘Medi3’ I'm really against that! I don't support it because I believe you should rise above the betrayal and pettiness of Ghanaian politics. You have been accepted by the international community as a spokesman for Africa. Daddy please don't descend into the Ghanaian gutter. Let those who betrayed you come up with their flagbearer,” she posted.
