Television presenter and comedian, Valentina Nana Aqyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzeneger, has revealed that, her absence on screen and behind the microphone, was as a result of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), who implored on her employers to sack her.

The mother of three, claimed that the NPP, though wallowing in opposition, managed to direct the Despite Group of Companies with its numerous radio stations, to oust her from her post at Okay FM, where she hosted a mid-morning programme—Monday to Friday.

In April this year, the NPP, tried getting the same Despite Group of Companies to sack Adakabre Frimpong Manso and Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, both broadcasters on Neat FM and of Okay FM respectively. This was after the party, had attacked the two individuals for not working in the interests of their flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Years before, the NPP, had gotten Kwabena Bobie Ansah, sacked from Asempa FM, owned by Multi Media Group Limited, also for not working in the interest of Nana Addo.

Afia Schwarzeneger, known to have endorsed the candidature of President John Dramani Mahama for the December 7 elections, said this when she shared a picture of Mr. Mahama with his daughter, Farida on facebook, capturing it “A picture that speaks 1000 words”.

She described President Mahama, as “having a heart of gold” by adopting the little girl.

Though she did not say who was behind her sack from Okay FM in the post she shared yesterday praising the president, she revealed it when a follower by name Enoch Preprah, said “I’m always so sad and disappointed when I see human beings who follow the NDC”.

But within minutes, Afia, replied her intolerant follower, telling him he was free to die by committing suicide, if he could not accept that she has chosen to support President Mahama.

The presenter, who made the popular Afia Schwarzeneger show, a household name some years ago, said she would never throw her weight behind anyone who goes about ordering her bosses to sack her, as if she wasn’t on a contract.

She said, “You are free to die….becos I am for JM.I will never support anyone that goes to my bosses to tell them to fire me as if I was employed with no contract. On that note I am for JM….you free to commit suicide I care less”.

The post which received several “likes” and commendations said, “A picture that speaks 1000 words…

My bae @president_mahama with our bae #farida. I fell in love with you becos of your heart of gold….it takes a real man to adopt and love her as his own..God with this act of kindness will always make you the head and never the tail…for it is written Blessed are the merciful for they shall be shown Mercy.

I love #JDM? and Jm alone!!!!

Afia, who calls the president, her “boyfriend” and NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo; “uncle” told another unhappy follower, “May God forgive me if I hate Nana Addo, I just don’t believe in his leadership skills”.

A couple of months ago, Afia, incurred the wrath of the Member of Parliament for (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who called her very unprintable names and threatened to release her naked pictures by having them published on social media, and this was indeed done minutes after the threats.

Her crime was for defending President Mahama and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, after the self-proclaimed NPP financier, attacked the Mahama family, calling them names.

Immediately after the MP’s outburst on his Madina-based Oman FM, Afia, was removed from both Neat FM and UTV, a television of the Despite Group of Companies, where she presented a show called “Kokooko”.

Since her sacking, the television and radio presenter, has been quiet about her predicament, moving in and out of the country, especially to South Africa on regular basis.

Her employers, had said she hadn’t been sacked except that, the programmes of the station were being re-structured, a claim which has since ceased to make sense, looking at the length of time the so-called restructuring process has taken, and till date, she has been at home wasting her enormous talent.

Although, many have expressed worry about her continues stay at home, Afia Schwarzeneger, has reframed from publicly saying anything about her predicament until now.

Afia, who has a lot of followers due to her personality, has worked with some of the capital’s radio stations, including Happy FM, Accra FM and until recently, Okay FM.

The presenter has also adopted a little girl in addition to her light-skinned twin-boys.

Last week, in a video that went viral, she prayed for the president to win the up-coming election.
