Writers and Poets to be honoured on October 25 by GWA

Judges on the panel for Ghana Writers Awards (GWA) have released the shortlist for the 2016 edition of the awards.

The shortlist contained 16 unpublished writers comprising ten males and six females.

This is the maiden edition of the prize which has been instituted to recognise and celebrate Ghanaian writers and literature.

The GWA is a literary prize instituted by some Ghanaian literary compatriots to promote and celebrate Ghanaian writers and literature.

The awards would be held at Marvels Ghana Mini Golf Course in Ghana's capital, Accra.

It is on the theme: "Preserving the Ghanaian culture through creative writing: the role of writers".

The event will come off on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

The awards ceremony will be attended by writers, poets, spoken word artistes, academics, publishers, journalists, lovers of arts, musicians and government officials.

Below are the shortlisted writers and their works.
