Ghanaian movie superstar, Yvonne Nelson, has condemned the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what she claims to be a deliberate attempt to block demonstrations.
In a tweet on Thursday, the actress recalls how the NPP joined several demonstrations when the party was in opposition and said NPP supporters were at every demonstration.
“They came in their party colours. Now (we) same Ghanaians are happy about the state of the country and same NPP is blocking us?†she said.
In 2015, an estimated 1,500 Ghanaians went on a vigil in the capital Accra to protest the worsening power cuts in the country.
The demonstration was initiated by actress Yvonne Nelson and some other artistes was under the hashtag #dumsormuststop.
The protesters at the time carried candles, lanterns, rechargeable lamps and local kerosene tin lamps known as ‘bobo’ to drum home their campaign.
