Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has confirmed that 21 suspects have been identified in connection with violent incidents during the 2020 and 2024 general elections, which left 15 people dead and 40 others injured.

Four of the suspects are on bail, five are on remand, while warrants have been issued for the arrest of the remaining 12, the minister said.

The incidents occurred across several regions, including Bono East, Greater Accra, Bono, Northern, Central, Savannah, and Ashanti. Fatalities in 2020 were recorded in Techiman South, Odododiodio, Ablekuma Central, Banda, Dormaa West, and Savelugu, while deaths in the 2024 polls occurred in Awutu Senya East, Tolon, Damango, Nkoranza South, Offinso North, and Ahafo Ano South-West.

Muntaka said security agencies are pursuing the outstanding suspects and working to prevent a recurrence of election-related violence in future polls.
