At least 15 people are feared dead following a devastating three-vehicle collision at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
The accident involved a passenger bus, a cargo truck transporting tomatoes and a fuel tanker that was not carrying fuel at the time of the crash.
Although the exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially established, eyewitnesses said the collision was triggered by a suspected wrongful overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in a head-on crash.
Emergency response teams deployed to the scene worked to rescue victims trapped in the mangled wreckage.
The incident caused severe gridlock, halting traffic along the major transit corridor.
Adding to the regional gridlock and growing safety concerns, a second accident was reported shortly after at nearby Dadieso.
