17yr-old alleged Mahama killer on borstal remand

The  Police have revealed that a 17-year-old suspect in the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama, Bernard Asamoah aka Daddy is on remand at a borstal facility in Accra.

Prosecutors told an Accra District Court on Wednesday July 21, that they believed him to be 17 years old hence the decision to remanded him at the facility.

The Borstal Institute for juveniles is  a correction centre for people  under 18 years old  convicted of criminal or civil offenses. The period that convicts spend at the centre is supposed to lead to reforms that will enable them fit into society after serving their sentence.

Meanwhile  32 persons were in court on Wednesday to face charges related to the murder of the soldier. There were remanded to reappear on the 6th of July.

The 32 are William Baah aka Misky, Yaw Annor aka Agahowa, Akwasi Baah aka Baya, Kwame Tuffour aka Asowonan, Kwasi Asante, Joseph Appiah Kubi aka Kum Dede, Kojo Animah, Philip Badu, Kofi Nyame aka Abortion, Michael Anim aka Nana Anim, Bernard Asamoah aka Daddy, Ebenezer Appiah aka Kwasi Agyei, Charles Quainin aka Kwasi Boah, Anthony Amoah, Bismark Donkor aka Dada,

The rest were, Kwame Agyei, Bismark Asamoah, Solomon Sackey, Kwadwo Abebrese, Evans Asare aka Body, Richmond Bio aka Burkina, Perpetual Owusu, Kofi Appiah, Prince Amponsah, Isaiah Manu, Prince Fosu, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Evans Fosu aka Ampofo, Anna Gyima aka Akua Asantewaa, John Nyarko, Ato Kwame, and Vivian Asahene aka Mafia.

Police are also looking for some eight (8) persons believed to be connected to the murder.

They are Yaw Amankwaah, Kwadwo Fordjour, Kwabena Kenkeba, Tikwa, Yaw Boadu, Madam Deedikor, Eric Asante aka Yaw Agade, and Kofi Ahenkora. Therefore, the public is entreated to provide relevant information for their arrest.

The Ghana Police Service has asked the public to aid them with any information on the whereabouts of the eight suspect by reporting to CID/Headquarters or the nearest police station, call 191 from all networks, or call MTN and Vodafone short code 18555.
