The 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz has been officially launched with a total of one hundred and thirty-five (135) Senior High Schools competing from Monday June 11, 2018 to Thursday July 5, 2018.

The launch of the 2018 NSMQ took place on Tuesday June 5, 2018 at the British Council in Accra.

Meanwhile, competing schools are expected to arrive from Wednesday, June 6, 2018, for the start of the preliminary contests on Monday, June 11, 2018.

The One-Eight session of the NSMQ spans from June 18-June 27, with the Quarter Finals stage from June 28th- June 30, and Semi-Finals on July 2, 2018.

The much-anticipated Grand Finale of the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

Prempeh College won the 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.

It beat defending champions, Adisadel College and 2013 champions, St. Thomas Aquinas in the grand finale of the quiz held at the National Theatre in Accra.

Nana Akua Ankomah Asare, Managing Director of Prime Time Ltd who spoke at the launch of the 2018 NSMQ said the competition which has been in existence for 25 years

The Grand finale will be at National Theatre on 5th July 2018

Newly introduced Money Zone by GCB bank will see students who qualify to the Quarter final stage be awarded cash prizes which will be based on their scores multiplied by GHc5, semi-finals by 10 and Finals by Ghc15.

Substitution of contestants during the quiz has been introduced and will be done once by each participating school.

Winners will be awarded a huge cash prize of 70, 000 Ghana cedis, with an additional 5,000 cedis for each student, including full scholarships to study medicine and engineering among others.
