The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta presenting the 2020 budget stated that the drone project will be rolled out nationwide to ensure equity in healthcare delivery across the country.

According to the Finance Minister who announced this in the budget in Parliament today, this is to ensure that essential services such as blood and medical products delivery are extended to deprived areas in the country.

The Ghana drone delivery service was set up in May 2019 to deliver medical supplies within designated areas in Ghana with the use of drones.

President Akufo-Addo last month launched Ghana’s newest medical drone delivery base at Asante Mampong. This marked the second of what will be four medical drone delivery bases that have been commissioned to help expand access to critical and life-saving medicines for people across Ghana.
