2020 budget: 2019 has been a good year for Ghana - Ken Ofori-Atta

Minister for Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, says 2019 was a good year for the Ghanaian economy.

The Minister presenting the 2020 budget in Parliament said the government was able to improve the economy even though it was crippled when they took over.

He says the NPP government put up strategies to enable the Ghanaian economy to stand tall among other African countries and that did manifest.

"2019 has been a good year for Ghana, this is the year that one can confidently say the Lord's blessing of the hard work is beginning to manifest"

"We have achieved significant structural changes for the economy, we have stabilized the micro economy turbulence as well, we have delivered on our flagship programmes and our gains are significant."

"2019 has been a good year for Ghana because when inflation slows everyone benefits"

"About 1.9 million people have benefited from the Planting for Food and Jobs programme"

“The economy before President Akufo-Addo was suffocating, businesses were working to pay utility bills, the banks were not doing well, unemployment was high and businesses were not doing well.”

He expressed hope that Ghana will become a financial hub in West Africa.

“Work is progressing on making Ghana the regional financial hub in West Africa.”
