A 23-year-old man, Daniel Yeboah, has been arrested by police in the Western Region for allegedly transporting 66 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest took place on Thursday, 31 July 2025, at the Samreboi-Tanokrom snap checkpoint. Yeboah was travelling on a tricycle, commonly known as a “Pragia”, when officers stopped him for a routine check. Two travel bags containing the suspected narcotics were found in his possession.
In his statement to the police, Yeboah claimed that a woman in Wenchi had given him the bags and instructed him to deliver them to her at Mumuni Camp, near Samreboi. He said he was paid GH₵5,000 for the delivery.
Police have launched a full investigation and are working to trace and arrest the woman mentioned by the suspect.
The police have revealed that Yeboah will be arraigned in court on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police Command has urged anyone with information about the alleged woman or the case to come forward.
