The National Security Ministry through a joint security operation has arrested 279 Ghanaians and 107 foreigners in five regions in the northern part of Ghana.

 The joint security operation that was carried out was made up of personnel from the National Security, the National Investigations Bureau and the Ghana Armed Forces.

 The operations led to the destruction of lots of properties in some communities and it also forced many individuals to flee from their homes.

 A resident from one of the communities told Joy News that they were very terrified when they saw the security personnel in their community.

 “Around 4:30 am, we rushed outside and saw the armed forces surrounding the whole community. They started burning our machines, destroying our properties and harassing us. They also fired gunshots in the air but when we questioned them, they told us to go back,” the resident said.

 Another resident also claimed that the actions of the joint security operatives came as a surprise to him and the entire community.

 Meanwhile, members of the joint security forces that took part in the operations at a press conference defended their actions and stated that the operation carried out in the regions was aimed at preventing terrorist attacks in the country.

 The leadership of the joint security operations also indicated that the operation was intelligence-led, evaluated and executed with precision.
