The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a series of robbery incidents involving stolen vehicles in Kumasi and Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, identified as Omar Ahmed, Kwaku Sarpong, also known as Obinim Sticker, and Abdul Salam Yahaya, were arrested at their hideouts through a coordinated intelligence-led operation. A fourth accomplice, suspect Jafar Suleman, alias Bonti, who is believed to be in possession of a pump-action gun used in the robberies, is currently on the run and being pursued by police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, numbering three during the operation, robbed a Toyota Lexus XR with DV No. 9099-V-2025. Suspect Kwaku Sarpong later led police to a cemetery at Fawode in Kumasi, where he claimed to have hidden the weapon used in the robbery, but it could not be traced. He also led police to Alaba Tinka, Kumasi, where the gang had sold a Toyota Yaris, DV No. 805-2025, earlier robbed at Offinso about four months ago, to a man identified only as Rasta.

Acting on intelligence, suspect Abdul Salam Yahaya was arrested at the St. Patrick Government Hospital in Offinso, where he admitted to scouting vehicles for the gang. The said Rasta, identified as Francis Barfi, was later arrested at the Kumasi Central PID office when he appeared with the Toyota Yaris, now re-registered as AS 2450-25. The vehicle has since been impounded for further examination.

All three suspects are in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts continue to track and arrest the remaining suspect, Jafar Suleman, to face the full rigours of the law.
