Three persons have been injured in a clash involving the Police and some executive members of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] in Savelugu-Nanton in the Northern region over the appointment of Hajia Ayishetu Seidu by President Akufo-Addo as Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] of the area.

Early this morning they stormed the premises of the assembly and demanded the removal of the MCE.  Three people were injured as a result.

The youth locked up the main entrance to the building which compelled the security officers to whisk away Hajia Ayishetu Seidu through another door.  The armed security personnel dispatched to maintain law and order were compelled to fire warning shots before bringing the situation under control.

There are reports of uneasy calm at e Savelugu Township where some properties belonging to the  municipal assembly has been damaged.

Member of Parliament for the area Abdul Samed Gunu has called for dialogue between the parties involved in the clash to help bring an end to the situation.

The new MCE polled 50 votes out of the 64 ballots cast representing 78.13 percent at a  special meeting to select whoever leads the municipality.
