Thirty-five police personnel have been promoted by the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for their role in the arrest of suspects linked to the Adabraka gold robbery in Accra.
The promotions were carried out in Accra on January 15, 2026.
The robbery took place at a jewellery shop in Adabraka in November 2024 and occurred in broad daylight, according to the police.
The Ghana Police Service said the officers who were promoted were directly involved in actions that led to the arrest of suspects linked to the robbery.
Mr Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board, addressed the officers and asked them to treat their promotions as a call to higher responsibility, leadership and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He also urged them to continue to apply diligence in their work.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, the promotions were described as part of efforts to recognise merit and reward performance within the Service.
