The Ghana Police Service has announced the promotion of four officers from the Western Central Regional Command for their exemplary conduct in a high-profile criminal case.

The officers, No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare, No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, and No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu were promoted to the ranks of Inspector, Sergeant, and Lance Corporal, respectively.

According to the Police Administration, the promotions recognise the officers’ professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to duty.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) commended them, noting that the gesture is part of efforts to incentivise outstanding performance across the Service.

Their elevation comes after the aforementioned officers played a critical role in the arrest of three armed suspects — Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahabat the Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong on April 30, 2025.

The suspects were apprehended just a day after five people were murdered at Asiyaw, near Nsawam.

During the operation, the suspects, who were travelling on a Grand Bird Bus (AS 4431 22), were arrested and searched. A submachine gun and 21 rounds of ammunition were found in the possession of Hakeem Imoro.

Further interrogation led to a breakthrough in the case, as Imoro identified his boss, Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo, as the owner of the weapon. Forson had already been arrested in connection with the Asiyaw killings.

Subsequent investigations confirmed that the suspects were attempting to escape the jurisdiction and were directly linked to the Asiyaw murders.

The Police Administration applauded the officers for their timely intervention and reaffirmed its commitment to rewarding personnel who demonstrate exceptional courage and service.
