President Nana Akufo-Addo is outraged by the recent developments concerning the defilement of a four-year-old girl at Assin Dadientem in the Central Region.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, on Friday, October 27 revealed this when a group known as Alliance for Women in Media Africa(AWMA) petitioned government to intervene in the defilement case.

He recalled, “Yesterday, in Cabinet, the President was outraged and he indicated to the Minister for the Interior that whatever must be done should be done. Because there was no local complaint. The police had to come in to ensure that the proper thing is done. So I will indicate to you that something is being done”.

AWMA also included in their petition, their wish to have the case transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The four-year-old, currently receiving treatment at the St Francis Xavier Hospital, is reportedly unable to walk as a result of the incident.

The perpetrator is on the run after the chief declared him innocent because the village deity said so, an allegation the chief has denied.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame further added that the issue should be treated devoid of political bias, emphasizing, “it has nothing to do with any political party”.

For him, it was time institutions are equipped to be efficient to deliver their mandate.

“Our institutions must be equipped to do what is required of them and there will be sanity in our affairs,” he added.
