Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has accused supporters of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin of deliberately disregarding the Auditor-General’s findings on the institution’s 2025 financial performance.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, August 19, Mr Gyamfi insisted that claims that GoldBod recorded losses in 2025 were not supported by the Auditor-General’s report.

According to him, the Auditor-General’s findings confirm that GoldBod did not record the losses being alleged by the opposition and its supporters.

He also rejected claims that the Auditor-General was denied access to complete information on GoldBod’s gold transactions, describing such assertions as either a misunderstanding of the external audit process or an attempt to discredit an independent constitutional institution.

“I invite you, the media, you who are the fourth estate of the realm, to check the veracity of this claim,” Mr Gyamfi said.

He maintained that officials from the Auditor-General’s office had unhindered access to all relevant information required to audit GoldBod’s 2025 financial statements.

“All documents requested by them were supplied and all queries raised by them in their management letter were satisfactorily answered,” he stated.

Mr Gyamfi further stressed that the Auditor-General made no adverse audit finding against GoldBod in the 2025 report.

“This is why not a single, and I repeat, not a single adverse audit finding was made by the Auditor-General in his 2025 Auditor’s Report on GoldBod,” he said.
