President Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the first factory under the One- District- One factory programme, a motorcycle assembling plant at Lamashegu, Tamale in the Northern Region.

The plant is a public-private partnership between the government of Ghana and a Chinese private company known as Motorking Company Limited.

The factory is expected to assemble different kinds of tricycles including farm tricycles, rural ambulance tricycles, and mobile library tricycles.

Mr. Akufo-Addo urged citizens of the Northern Region to patronize the company’s products.

The company’s Managing Director, Dr. Gau Yong promised to deepen management’s relationship with the chiefs and people of the area.

She said: “The company is to support the community and promote quality standards in healthcare services, agricultural productivity and education among others, through cost-effective transportation for all.”

“We have so far covered Tamale, Techiman, and Accra with warehouse and assembling centers.”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government promised during the 2016 election campaign that it would build a factory in each of the country's districts under the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative.
