Ghana’s two most successful football clubs, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, are set to rekindle their age-old rivalry in the 2025 edition of the GHALCA President’s Cup today, Sunday, July 6, 2025.

The match is scheduled for a 4 pm kick at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This year’s clash marks the 10th anniversary of the annual fixture, which is played in honour of the sitting President of the Republic. The 2025 edition holds added national significance as President John Dramani Mahama is expected to attend and present the trophy to the winning team.

Organised by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) with support from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the President’s Cup has grown into more than a football event. It serves as a celebration of national unity, sporting excellence, and a shared passion for the beautiful game. The encounter between Kotoko and Hearts—known as the "Super Clash"—has long captured the imagination of fans and regularly delivers thrilling spectacles on the pitch.

Asante Kotoko enters the contest with renewed confidence after clinching their 10th MTN FA Cup title on 15th June with a 2-1 victory over Division One side Golden Kick. The win at the University of Ghana Stadium marked their first FA Cup triumph since 2017, and the Porcupine Warriors are eager to add another piece of silverware to crown their resurgence. Their recent form has reignited belief among supporters, and the President’s Cup offers a prime opportunity to reinforce their status as a dominant force in Ghanaian football.
