Ghana’s First lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo is celebrating her birthday today [Sunday], March 12 and her husband is at the forefront of well-wishers.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo posted a photo of the first lady on twitter with the caption: "Happy birthday to my beloved Rebecca", earlier in the day.
Born in 1951, to the Speaker of Parliament for Ghana's the Third Republic, Jacob Hackenburg Griffiths-Randolph, she is 66 years old today.
Her mother had German heritage and she is the third of seven children of her parents.
Mrs Akufo-Addo became first following the January 7 swearing-in of her husband after his triumph in the December 7, 2016 general elections.
Since assuming the role, she has expressed her commitment towards the course of women across the country with several donations to hospitals in rural Ghana.
She led Ghana's celebration of the International Women's Day with a special event at her office which saw a very good number of female Ghanaian celebrities attending.
