The Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) has announced it will soon begin registration of Private Tricycle Waste Collectors popularly known as 'Borla taxis' or 'Aboboyaa'.

The move, according to the AMA is part of efforts to identify all the private waste collectors, coordinate, monitor and control their activities.

The registration exercise will also aid the Assembly to further engage with the 'Aboboyaa' operators to enhance their capacity in health and safety, environmental management and business development in pursuit of the Clean Accra Project.

The AMA will begin the Free but mandatory exercise from Wednesday 4th July 2018 to Tuesday 31st July 2018, excluding Sundays.

'Borla' Taxis or 'Aboboyaa' operators will be registered at various dump sites, waste transfer stations, AMA Waste Management Department at Kaneshie and other designated locations in the city.

The Assembly has however warned that "any tricycle operating within the AMA's jurisdiction from August 2018 without their embossment will be arrested and prosecuted."
