Apam: 49-year-old fisherman arrested for defiling 13-year-old girl

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a suburb in Apam, in the Central region.

The suspect was seen committing the heinous act in a viral video.

According to a press statement issued and signed by the Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Police Command, ASP Patrick Bentum, on October 17, at about 1300 hours, the Apam District Police Command received information that on October 16, the 49-year-old fisherman by name Samuel Armah, a.k.a. Kofi Nyan, had reportedly defiled a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a suburb of Apam.

The statement revealed that “the suspect lured the survivor into a ghetto at Mumford and defiled her.”

The victim was sent to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for examination and treatment.

Following the hospital visit, the docket was referred to the Central Regional DOVVSU, where the accused admitted to the offence and was subsequently detained.

The command has assured the general public that justice will be served, appealing especially to the people of Mumford and its environs to assist in capturing the four accomplices, namely, Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto, who are currently at large.
