Approachers Series driver steals over GH¢77,000 worth of books

A driver working with the Approachers’ Company Limited was last Thursday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court for allegedly stealing textbooks worth GH¢ 77,791.50 belonging to his employers.

 

The accused, Sampson Boateng pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum GH¢ 80,000.00 with two sureties - one to be justified and is to reappear on Wednesday, June 22.

His accomplice, whose name was given as Otuo Serebour, alias “Chief”, is however, on the run.

Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court presided over by Mr. Ekow Mensah that the crime was detected by the Managing Director, Mr. Alfred Kojo Obeng, in October, last year, when large quantity of textbooks could not be traced.

He made a report to the police and investigations uncovered some of the missing books hidden in a private property at Serwaa-Akura in Ejisu.

The owner of the property told investigators that the accused had pleaded with her to keep the textbooks for him, claiming the vehicle he was using to supply these to schools, which had placed orders with the company, had broken down.
