The arraignment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others in the high-profile SML–GRA scandal has been adjourned, after the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra announced it would not sit today, Monday, November 24, 2025, as earlier scheduled.

The case, listed under CR/0106/2026: Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta & 7 Ors, was expected to commence today following the filing of 78 charges by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

However, the court has indicated that a new date will be communicated to both the Republic and the accused persons.

Background

The OSP had announced last week that it would drag Ofori-Atta and seven others to court today as part of ongoing investigations into the controversial Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to the Special Prosecutor, the charges, filed on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, include alleged violations of Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and Section 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).
