Policy think tank, Strategic Thinkers Network (STRANEK) has opined that, the presidential committee on emoluments was perfectly constituted politically and that they were guided by the principles of equity, fairness, motivation and ability to pay therefore all recommendations are based on rich experience and proper consultations which is backed by the 1992 constitution.

According to a statement signed by Executive Director Nii Tettey Tetteh, “Strategic Thinkers Network candidly believes from detailed checks that the Prof Dora Francisco Edu-Bandoh Committee is purely bipartisan hence all recommendations are based on rich experience and proper consultations which is backed by the 1992 constitution.

Moreover, with the support of the constitution of Ghana, the Edu-Boandoh committee based its recommendations on the guiding principles of equity, fairness, motivation and ability to pay so far as emoluments are concerned. Thus, the emoluments pegged as at now could not be termed as fraudulent and wrong.”

According STRANEK, until Article 71 has seen an amendment, no officer holder must be made to suffer. “The emoluments of article 71 officeholders might not have washed down well with the people of Ghana since the time of the Chinery Hesse Committee but we opine that until there is a need for an amendment, it will be otiose to hold anyone to ransom.”
