The Supreme Court today November 21, 2018, has upheld a Presidential pardon ex-President John Mahama granted the 'Montie 3' in 2016.

A petition was filed by three Ghanaian legal practitioners against the Attorney General (A-G) challenging the constitutionality of former President John Mahama granting Presidential pardon for the “Montie 3” who were jailed for contempt of court in 2016.

The three Mr Alistair Nelson, Mr Godwin Ako Gunn and Mr Salifu Masse have now been cleared by the Supreme court in a 5-2 decision.

This will come as a huge relief to Godwin Ako-Gun who was elected Deputy Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) just this past weekend.

The three could have gone back to jail to continue their four months jail sentence if the Supreme Court had granted the reliefs being sought by the petitioners.
