A Canadian national and her Ghanaian boyfriend are currently in the custody of the Ghana Police Service in connection with an alleged arson attack that led to the destruction of an apartment at Oyarifa Anointed Down in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects are Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, a Canadian national, and her Ghanaian boyfriend, Mohammed Issah.
“The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a case of causing unlawful damage at Oyarifa Anointed Down in the Greater Accra Region,” the statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service said.
Police investigations indicate that the incident occurred on 23 December 2025, when the suspects, who were tenants occupying the apartment, allegedly set the property on fire.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects… deliberately set the property ablaze on 23rd December 2025, completely destroying it without any apparent provocation,” the CID noted.
Mohammed Issah was arrested on the same day of the incident by the Ayimensah Abokobi Police, while Jennifer Mae Tomlinson reportedly went into hiding after the incident.
“Suspect Mohammed Issah was arrested by the Ayimensah Abokobi Police on the same day the incident occurred, while suspect Jennifer Mae Tomlinson went into hiding and was later arrested from her hideout on 25 December 2025,” the release added.
Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
“Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, and they will be put before the court to face charges in accordance with the law,” the statement assured.
