The Central University has inducted Professor Samuel Kwesi Dartey-Baah as its new vice chancellor to steer the affairs of the institution.

Prof. Dartey-Baah, takes over from Professor Bill Buenor Puplampu, the immediate past vice chancellor.

Constituting the assembly for the investiture of the new Vice Chancellor, Bishop Dr. Mensah Otabil, the Chancellor of the Central University, charged the new Vice Chancellor to lead a transformational agenda aimed at producing responsible, disciplined, and visionary graduates for national development.

Bishop Otabil said the Central University was founded on Christian values; hence, leadership must be grounded in moral discipline and service to humanity.

“As you take over the reins of leadership, let transformation guide your work,” he charged.

He further noted that the goal of the university was not just to produce graduates but to raise men and women who would lead with integrity and contribute meaningfully to society.

Bishop Dr Otabil called on the new vice chancellor to build on the rich legacy of the institution and pursue an agenda that places innovation, character formation, and research at the core of academic excellence.

Bishop Dr Otabil commended the immediate past vice chancellor for his exemplary leadership and contributions to the growth of the university over the years, praising him for steering the institution through challenging times and strengthening its academic and administrative structures.

In his inaugural address, Professor Samuel Kwesi Dartey-Baah, the newly inducted Vice Chancellor of Central University, expressed profound gratitude to the chancellor, the governing council, and the university community for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to lead with a renewed sense of purpose under the theme ‘Building Legacies and Leading with Vision’.

He stated that his administration would focus on repositioning the university as a centre of academic excellence anchored on research and credible data to inform policy and practice.

“We shall strengthen our research base, enhance teaching and learning outcomes, and ensure that Central University continues to shine as a faith-based institution producing transformational leaders,” he noted.

Prof. Dartey-Baah further assured the university community of his commitment to deepening Christian values, ensuring discipline, and promoting an environment where both staff and students could thrive spiritually and academically.

The new vice chancellor emphasised that his vision was to build legacies that would outlive his tenure and make Central University a model of Christian higher education in Ghana and beyond.

Professor Bill Buernor Puplampu, the immediate past vice chancellor, in a goodwill message, encouraged his successor to continue the vision of academic excellence while paying attention to the holistic development of students.

“Leadership in academia is not an easy task, but with teamwork, innovation, and reliance on God, you will succeed,” he advised.

The colourful induction ceremony, held at the Miotso campus, brought together members of the university council, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
