The Minister of Communications, Sam George, has granted a one-week extension to the stakeholder committee reviewing DSTV pricing in Ghana.
The committee, which began work on September 8, 2025, will now submit its final report by September 29, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 23, the National Communications Authority (NCA) explained that the extension will allow the committee to complete its consultations and ensure its recommendations fully address the Minister’s concerns over DSTv’s pricing structure.
The committee’s mandate includes building a shared understanding of DSTv pricing in Ghana, proposing commercially viable solutions acceptable to all stakeholders, and developing a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DSTv decoders and services entering Ghana illegally from Nigeria.
According to the NCA, the committee has made notable progress since its inauguration but requires additional time to harmonise the positions of all parties involved.
This review comes at a time when concerns are mounting over the affordability of DSTV subscriptions in Ghana and the growing impact on consumers, alongside the persistent challenge of illegal cross-border access to the service.
