The minister-designate for Regional Reorganisation and Development Dan Kwaku Botwe yesterday January 30 2017 at his vetting exhibited a huge map of Ghana before the Appointments Committee of Parliament to defend the creation of new region.
According to Dan Kwaku Botwe, some intellectuals have researched about the creation of regions, of which some has recommended as many as 20 regions instead of the current ten.
Mr Botwe, at a point in time during his vetting took to his feet and educated members of the appointment committee specific shortcomings of every region.
Addressing the vetting panel, he said “I feel I’m lucky to be heading this ministry because it looks like there is a meeting of minds on this area. The NDC mentioned it in their manifesto and the NPP and the President also believe there is the need to create more regions, so we all agree with thisâ€
Dan Kwaku Botwe assured the vetting committee that he will ensure that chiefs and all stakeholders are involved in the exercise in order to arrive on an agreement on the need for new regions.
