Fire on Friday, September 29, 2023 gutted a booster station which belongs to the Quantum Oil Terminal Limited at Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

However, the timely response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) saved the booster station from escalating.

The GNFS deployed five fire appliances including support from the Tema Oil Refinery Fire Brigade to the scene to control the situation

At the time of the accident, a vessel was said to be offloading gas at the harbour through the pipelines to the booster station to the Quantum Terminal in the Kpone Power Enclave.

Meanwhile,  GNFS Divisional Officer III (DOIII) Ebenezer Yenzu, who is the Regional Command Public Relations Officer said that the command received a distress call around 0754 hours.

He said that the Tema Oil Refinery Fire Brigade responded quickly and was able to extinguish the fire.

DOIII Yenzu said the hazards had been reduced, but they were waiting for the leaking pipe to seize.
