Five dead, four injured in Asikuma Junction accident

Five people have been confirmed dead by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) following a road traffic collision at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

A post on the official Facebook page of GNFS revealed that a rescue team, led by AstnO Fred Aganu and accompanied by the Acting District Fire Officer, ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, was sent to the location following a distress call made to the Peki Fire Station.

The incident involved a grey Toyota Noah with the registration number GX 422-25 and a tipper truck bearing the registration number GT 725-19.

According to GNFS, out of a total of nine victims, four, including a minor, were successfully rescued by the team and subsequently transported to the Peki Government Hospital by the National Ambulance Service.

 

However, the remaining five individuals were unresponsive and have been turned over to the police.
