The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a robbery syndicate in connection with a violent armed robbery targeting a gold buyer at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa area.
The robbery occurred on the night of March 11, 2026, when the victim, Mr. Orls Oduro, was returning home after closing his gold-buying business at Tamakloe.
He had hired an Okada rider to transport him to his residence when armed men attacked them and robbed them at gunpoint.
The assailants made away with GH¢24,000 in cash, seven pounds and six matches of gold valued at GH¢94,530, an iPhone XR, and a Tecno Spark 12 mobile phone.
Following the incident, police launched investigations which culminated in intelligence-led operations at Duaso and Domeabra on July 21 and 22, 2026.
The operations led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Kwabena Amuah, 25, alias "IK"; Mohammed Nasir, 28, alias "Mallam"; Samuel Agyei, 24, alias "Okese-1"; and Kofi Gyasi, 26, alias "Brefo."
The suspects were arraigned before the Wassa Akropong District Court on July 23, 2026, and remanded into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Police say efforts are underway to arrest another suspect, identified only as "Agogo," who remains at large.
The Western Central Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to provide credible information on his whereabouts to the nearest police station.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that all perpetrators of crime are brought to justice.
