GAF investigates alleged assault on journalist in Walewale

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced it is investigating an alleged assault on Media General journalist Solomon Kanaluwe, which was reported on Monday, January 26, 2026.

According to a press release from the Department of Public Relations at General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the incident was reported to have occurred on the outskirts of Walewale in the North East Region.

The area has in recent times seen reported incidents of attacks on public transport, resulting in deaths and injuries.

The release, signed by Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations, did not provide further details on the circumstances of the alleged assault or the identity of the journalist involved.

GAF has called on the public to cooperate with its personnel and other security agencies operating in the region.
