The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned an assault on Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School, after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.

In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, GES said preliminary reports indicate that the attack occurred on October 5, 2025.

Former students allegedly assaulted the teacher after being displeased with his strict supervision during the Christian Religious Studies paper of the 2025 WASSCE.

GES noted that the matter was not reported to school authorities or the Service until the video emerged online. The Service has since taken over the investigation, which is currently ongoing.

Describing the attack as “unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession,” GES assured that those responsible will face sanctions under national laws and GES regulations.

The Service also reassured teachers nationwide of its full support as they maintain discipline and protect the integrity of examinations. Students were urged to respect authority and uphold discipline.
