GES dismiss 'Kitchen stool' teacher and 9 others

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed ten of its staff who were involved in various sexual misconduct among others.


The much talked about 'kitchen stool' headmaster of the Adumanu D/A Basic School in the Central Region, Mr Robert Seppe, is among those who have had their appointments terminated for sexual misconduct.

The rest are Mr Vincent Nii Armah Otoo of St Francis Senior High School (SHS), Akim Oda; Mr Kester Ansah Djan of Benkum SHS, Larteh-Akuapem; Mr James Anum Adjetey of Okumaning Ugars Basic School, Okumaning, Eastern Region; Mr Bright Akpalu of Akwatia Presby JHS, Akwatia, and Mr William Akompong of Nyankumasi SHS, Assin Nyankumasi.

A statement by GES confirming the disciplinary measures against staff showed that the teachers were serving in various parts of the country at both secondary and tertiary levels.

GES SANCTIONS STAFF

The under listed persons have been sanctioned for breaching aspects of the Code of Professional Conduct of the Ghana Education Service.

A) SEXUAL/IMMORAL MISCONDUCT

The following have had their appointments terminated:

i. Mr Vincent Nii Armah 0too – St. Francis SHTS, Akim Oda

ii. Mr Kester Ansah Djan – Benkum SHS, Larteh — Akuapem

iii. Mr Adjetey Anum James – Okumaning Ugars Basic, Okumaning E/R

iv. Mr Bright Akpalu – Akwatia Presby SHS, Akwatia

v. Mr William Akompong – Nyankumasi SHS, Assin Nyankumasi

vi. Mr Robert Seppey, – Adumanu D/A Basic School, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa

B) CONVICTION OF STEALING

The following were convicted of stealing by the Court and has therefore been dismissed:

i. Madam Comfort Oduro Bruce – Ghana Secondary School, Koforidua

ii. Mr Alfred Kumah – Regional Education Office, Koforidua

iii. Mr Kwasi Agyeman SDA SHS, Koforidua

CONVICTION OF DEFILEMENT

i. Mr Wiayuga Mumuni United Basic School, Tumu, Upper West

He has been dismissed from the service.

The decision was taken after they went through the due process at all levels from the school through the GES Council. This is to serve as a deterrent to others who have the intention of doing similar things.

GES cracks down on sexual misconduct

Recently, the Ashanti Regional directorate of the Ghana Education Service suspended the Assistant Headmaster of Kumasi High School, George Amponsah-Duodo, over allegations that he has sodomized some students of the boys school.

Four students had levelled allegations against the the school head.

The GES is still investigating the matter.
