Ghana will mark its first National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, as declared by President John Dramani Mahama.
The event aims to bring Ghanaians together in spiritual reflection, intercession, and gratitude for the nation’s peace, stability, and shared destiny.
A Christian prayer service will be held at 8:00 am at the State House forecourt, where President Mahama will join the fellowship.
His Eminence Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson is the Special Guest Speaker for the Christian service.
Additionally, a Muslim prayer event will take place at 12:30 pm at the National Mosque in Kanda, with His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu leading the Service.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is a symbolic initiative to foster national unity, introspection, and renewal, encouraging citizens to assess their personal and collective journeys and recommit to national values of discipline, unity, and hope.
The event is expected to be observed across all 16 regions and 261 districts, uniting the nation in a collective spiritual endeavor.
