Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested two key suspects in the murder of a final year business student Derrick Agyei of the Effiduase Senior High Commercial school .

The two suspects told the Police they have been having sleepless nights ever since they committed the murder.

The deceased is reported to have been killed when he sneaked out of campus with a friend to watch football when unknown persons attacked him.

The Effiduase District Commander, Superintendent Asare Bediako in an interview with Nhyira FM said the suspects disclosed they were haunted by the ghost of the deceased.

" They were two, one did the robbery, and one did the killing, when we had both suspects there was no way they were going to deny, we got Essien who is an accomplice and Linking"

" Essien said Linking did the killing, according to them, they wanted to run from the country but the ghost of the young man haunted them and always asked them to report themselves to the police"

" So in a way the ghost played a role in their arrest, it is spiritual, and things like that are not considered in court, but this is their own account," he added.

Background

Final year student of the Effiduase Senior High Commercial school, Derrick Agyei, was stabbed in the neck with a sharp object on September 26, 2018  and later died at the hospital.

He is said to have sneaked out of campus with a friend to watch a football match outside when he was attacked.

Police say the four current students called and alerted their accomplices about the presence of some colleagues outside the main walls.

The intruders, who were either smoking marijuana outside campus or lurking at the girls' dormitory, robbed unsuspecting students.

The Police Commander says the deceased appeared to have struggled with his assailants who had ordered him to surrender money on him.

He was eventually overpowered and robbed of 5 Ghana cedis while a friend also lost 2 Ghana cedis.
