The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, April 18 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 21 (Easter Monday) as official public holidays in commemoration of Easter.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on Monday, in line with national recognition of key dates on the Christian calendar.

Good Friday, which falls on April 18 this year, is observed to honor the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is a deeply solemn day for Christians, often marked by church services, fasting, and quiet reflection.

Easter Monday, taking place on April 21, follows the celebration of Easter Sunday, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The day is typically filled with family activities, worship, and community gatherings.

The Ministry urged citizens to observe the holidays in a peaceful and respectful manner, reflecting on the spiritual importance of the Easter season.
