Government has inaugurated a task-force to deal with the spate of political vigilantism by some indignant New Patriotic Party members especially in the Northern Region over the past months.

The Task-Force is led by a Deputy Minister for Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, and some of its members include the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli, a Presidential Staffer, Clara Napaga Tia Sulemana, and Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Dr. Clifford Braimah.

Discussions involving the task force and NPP regional executives in the Northern region have been held, resulting in the resolution of the political impasse between the Karaga DCE and the alleged NPP youth members.

A communique of settlement has since been signed by the Karaga constituency NPP Council of Elders Chairman, Baba Abdulai, the constituency Chairman, Tahiru Zakaria and the District Chief Executive, Alhassan Yabdow.

After which they rendered their apologies to President Nana Akufo Addo and the general public for the unfortunate situation perpetuated by some disillusioned NPP youth in the area.

Over the past weeks, aggrieved party supporters identifying themselves as “Burma camp youth” in the Northern Region engaged in lawless acts by locking up the offices of the Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

Also, there was a clash between supporters of feuding NPP executives at the Karaga constituency in the Northern region, where some angry youth vandalized party properties and later stormed the police station to free two suspects.
