The Government has announced the immediate evacuation of students in Bawku, Nalerigu, and their surrounding communities following a curfew imposed to help stabilize the region.
In a statement issued by the Presidency on Sunday, July 27, Government Communications, Minister and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, revealed that the curfew from 2:00 pm. to 6:00 am daily, is intended not only to enforce peace but also to provide a safer environment for evacuating students from various educational institutions caught in the crossfire.
“The curfew is intended to create an environment conducive to the evacuation of all students in various educational institutions in affected areas, some of whom have been unfortunately targeted in the conflict,” the statement read.
This directive follows an earlier announcement by the Ministry of the Interior, which formally imposed the curfew effective today and until further notice.
