The government has announced full details for the funeral of victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrufuom, which claimed eight lives.
The ceremony, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, will be a full military service organized by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
During a press conference held on Thursday, August 14, Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbey detailed that the funeral will be conducted in three segments: recitals from the Bible and the Qur’an, the main service, and the burial.
The pre-burial program is set to commence at 7:30 am and conclude at 9:00 am.
The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is anticipated to arrive at 8:50 am, followed by President John Dramani Mahama at 9:00 a.m. to initiate the state service.
This three-hour ceremony will include the reading of biographies for all eight victims, as well as tributes from their widows, children, government officials, and representatives from various institutions.
After the service, the remains of six victims will be transported to the military cemetery at Tse Addo for burial, with the rites being conducted jointly by the GAF and the respective churches of the deceased.
Earlier, on Sunday, August 10, two victims — Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna — were interred in accordance with Islamic traditions.
