Gov’t to deploy over 8,000 CCTV cameras to Ghana Police -

President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that as a measure to get the Ghana Police work diligently to provide the security Ghanaians deserve, his government will soon deploy 8,700 CCTV cameras across all districts in Ghana.

According to President Akufo-Addo, negotiations to acquire the CCTV cameras have just been completed and that when it’s rolled out, the command centres will be in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale.

Akufo-Addo added that his government primary aim for this year is to rehabilitate police stations across the country to standardize their infrastructure.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the Bekwai Divisional Police Headquarters today March 18, 2018, which was built under auspices of the Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Joseph Osei Owusu, President Akufo-Addo noted that “at least 1,000 new vehicles are being procured for the Police this year. Already 200 pick-up vehicles have been allocated under Operation Calm Life, with 200 saloon vehicles to be delivered soon, with more to come.”

He also assured that more resources including, police kits, protective gear and adequate quantities of other essential equipment have been allocated, and also cautioned that the Police should pay particular attention to the proper maintenance of equipment and facilities given them.

Congratulating the Bekwai MP for the contribution to national building, Akufo Addo described the MP’s gesture as an excellent example every responsible citizen can make to the general welfare of their community.

He then stated that he expects that, the Bekwai Divisional Police will enhance their engagement with the communities they serve to help reduce crime.
