The Ministry of Health (MoH) has set a new standard for accountability and results in public service through the signing of performance contracts with its agencies.
The initiative, described by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh as a turning point for Ghana’s health sector, seeks to shift the focus from intentions to measurable impact.
According to him, the two-year agreement, running from January 2025 to December 2026, commits agency heads to specific deliverables while allowing flexibility for innovation.
“This is not just paperwork; it is about making performance our culture and excellence our daily habit,” he stated.
Adding that the system will be driven by regular reviews and transparent assessments aimed at ensuring health institutions deliver tangible improvements for citizens, he added.
The Health Minister emphasized that the ministry will, under the framework, conduct quarterly reviews, half-year assessments, and annual evaluations to ensure continuous improvement, with excellence rewarded and underperformance addressed.
