46 year-old Pastor Kumchacha real name Nicholas Osei of the ‘Heaven Gate Ministry International’ contends while some envy his fame and fortune, they have little idea about the toil he’s put in to be enjoying his time in the limelight.

The father of 6 whose mum hails from Akyem Apegua and dad from Koforidua Gyumapo, tasted western education briefly at Akyem Apegua before descending on Accra in search of an urban way of life.

The preacher man says he lodged with a relation at the Recce Regiment, Burma camp and then to the Central Police Station in Accra before he was instructed by the Supreme Divine to preach the gospel in 1986 or 87.

He stated, in pursuance of the preaching call, he begun sharing the word at the Kantamanto Railway Line, Tema Station, Abossey Okai and the Kumasi Kejetia Market.

Kumchacha narrated how he suffered at the hands of policemen who arrested him numerous times (90) over his preaching acts and thrown in the Central Police Station, Kumasi Railway Line Police Station, Takoradi Kwesi Mintin Station since authorities in charge of the military regime described his preaching as a subversive act mentioning that he’s been to the Adjagben Court times without number on the orders of then police commissioner, Peter Nanfuri.

Being unlettered, journalist, Kofi Adoma Wawani asked Kumchacha how he manages to secure visas to travel abroad. The comic preacher responded: “God has given me favour, so when I visit the embassies and tell them I have been invited for preaching duties, they offer them to me. I have been to Canada, Germany, Bronx, Philadelphia and Massachusetts all in the U.S.”

Kumchacha mentioned, the late Osofo Amoako of the Resurrection Power & Living Bread Ministries as being his spiritual father and mentor who prayed over him and ordained him before crossing over to the great beyond.

According to Kumchacha, God revealed his church’s name ‘Heaven Gate Ministry International’ to him pointing out that the church based at Mallam Last Stop can sit 5000 or 6000 people at a time adding “it’s not a small church, I have done the ministry work for over 20 years and even have chiefs, soldiers and policemen in my church” he submitted.
