The Ghana Police Service has deployed additional personnel and equipment to Nkwanta following renewed violent attacks in the area.

In a statement issued on March 26 by the Police Regional Headquarters in Dambai, authorities said the Inspector-General of Police dispatched two armoured vehicles along with officers from the National Police Operations to strengthen security. Calm has reportedly been restored.

The police confirmed that five bodies—three males and two females—were recovered from two separate locations within the Nkwanta South Municipality. The recovery operation was carried out by a joint team comprising the Police, Military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Defence Intelligence, and the Ghana National Fire Service.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the attacks and to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information. The public has also been cautioned against spreading misinformation that could escalate tensions.
