The Toase District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region has granted a 27-year-old illegal miner GHS¢200,000 bail with two sureties for allegedly stealing his father’s money.

Alhassan Nasiru is said to have stolen the GHS4,000.00 cash, which the father had hidden in his cocoa farm at Nyamebekyere, near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South West district.

His plea was not taken, and he would be brought back before the court presided by Mr. Robert Addo, on January 6, 2026.

Police Chief Inspector Anthony Ohene Gyan prosecuting, told the court that complainant, Seidu Alhassan a farmer, resided at Nyamebekyere near Mankranso, whiles his son Nasiru was an illegal miner residing at Biemso Number One, in the Ahafo Ano South East District.

He said, on December 05, this year, the complainant detected theft of his GHS100.00 from the pocket of his pair of trousers he left in his room.

The complainant became suspicious and decided to hide the GHS 4,000.00 cash he had on him under a cocoa tree on his farm.

The next morning, the accused person went and harvested plantain from the same farm and when the complainant later arrived in the farm, he detected that the money was nowhere to be found.

The complainant conducted his own investigation and was informed that the accused person went to the farm and brought home a bunch of plantain, so he suspected him and therefore reported him to Wioso Police.

The accused person was arrested, and after the Police preliminary investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.

Prosecution said investigations were ongoing into the matter.
