The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has assured applicants of a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment process during a visit to the Ghana Prisons Service Training School screening centre in Accra.
The Minister inspected the facility as part of the Ministry’s supervisory mandate, observed the ongoing screening exercise, and interacted with applicants as well as officials overseeing the process.
He emphasised that the recruitment exercise is being conducted strictly in line with established procedures and urged applicants to adhere to the approved processes, cautioning against any attempts to cut corners.
Addressing the applicants, the Minister warned against deception and the activities of fraudulent middlemen who make false promises of assistance in exchange for money. He stressed that anyone found engaging in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted.
He further explained that a centralised and systematic payment system has been introduced to enable applicants to track their payments and receipts, significantly reducing the risk of fraud.
To safeguard the integrity of the exercise, the Minister disclosed that robust monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to prevent fraudulent practices. These include oversight by the Criminal Investigations Department, the Police Intelligence Directorate, the National Signals Bureau, and other relevant security agencies.
The Interior Minister commended the Commander and officers in charge of the screening centre for their effective planning and the smooth execution of the exercise. He also praised the discipline and conduct of the applicants and encouraged all security agencies under the Ministry to learn from one another and adopt best practices in recruitment and personnel management.
